SHOULD YOU WEAR A LEGROPE KITING?

Leg ropes: to wear or not to wear, that is the question.

I use a leg rope 100% of the time as I hate taking time out of my session if I lose my board. That's 5 minutes I have to spend swimming after my board that I could have spent kiting! If you're not used to wearing one and find you get caught up changing stance etc, rest assured, you will get used to it - it's all about time on the water.

In some areas they're pretty much essential to prevent your board washing up on reef or rocks but at the end of the day, it's not always necessary and really comes down to personal preference. If you are going to use one, I always recommend a regular surf leash, as they will break if they're under a really heavy load. This means they're less likely to slingshot back and hit you in the head in heavy conditions.
